MTRC - Not Just Real Tennis
Real Tennis
This is the core activity at MTRC. A game that can be played all year round. A world class professional and his assistant are on hand to provide coaching and encouragement for beginners.
Internal competitions, inter-club tournaments and World tours are all accessible to players at MTRC. The game's handicapping system ensures a 'level playing field' for all.
Rackets
This is one of the fastest court games in the World. It gave rise to the game of Squash Rackets but is faster, more skillful and physically demanding. To watch two experienced players on the large court at MTRC is an impressive sight. Again lessons are available.
Squash
A squash court was added to the club in 1926. Players enjoy plenty of light and a well sprung floor.
Skittles
The Club houses a traditional skittle alley with a wooden lane and wooden balls. It has been described as the Grandfather of ten-pin bowling and offers an amusing test of skill.
Formal occasions include a Grand National Dinner, a Christmas Luncheon, and in the Autumn the Golden Racquet competition culminates in a Ball.
Out-of-club events include a tent at the Cheshire Point-to-Point, a golf day and cricket challenges with other clubs. Wine-tasting, prize draws and impromptu social occasions all add to the pleasure of membership.
